The Racetrack
Rusted tire rims in cement columns border the track. You can still hear the cables swiping around on the rims carrying the bunny. What kind of car could stand up to the off road conditions necessary to drive that bunny around the quarter mile track? The car is hiding in the woods. It whispers of Illegal betting going on off the side lines.
The secluded wooden ruins of this greyhound track have been softened by endangered ground pine. The track is comfortable to walk or jog on. The sun melts through the forest trees and a grape arbor appears as you turn the corner. Fern, Wintergreen and Merrybells plants decorate the forest floor. Fire flies, frogs and crickets are only ones around now but the voices of the greyhounds who once raced here can be heard coming from within the deep shadows of the woods.
